A few days ago, on my Facebook page, I’ve posted a picture with a glass of lemonade. I received great reactions from my friends, who thought it was an alcoholic drink, so I’ve felt bad about it and searched for a proper alcoholic drink for them. This is how I came across to this simple Margarita for Cocktail Friday! I know it sounds exciting and it is, so I had to give it a try. The master of the simple Margarita recipe is BAR Solution and you can find the original recipe here.

It is easy to make if you have everything that you need. If you don’t, the main ingredients are just one click away and you can be inventive for the rest of it. At least, this is what I’ve done.

To be honest, I never made a cocktail before, so I didn’t have a blender for a margarita. I have ordered only the drinks and the limes.

I even ordered tortilla chips in one attempt to try and recreate the original picture, but the drink was so great I couldn’t wait to get them first. I had to share this with you!

So, what we need:

  • 30 ml (1 oz) of Tequila (recommended 100% Blue Agave, to cut down on the hangover – I wouldn’t know anything about this, <yet>, obvious!);
  • 30 ml (1 oz) Cointreau od Triple Sec (I had no idea what it was);
  • 30 ml (1 oz) sweet and sour mix or lime juice (I’ve used lime juice).

BAR Solution gives simple and clear instructions:

  1. “Blend with crushed ice.”
  2. “Salt rim of Margarita Glass or any glass you can find.”
  3. “Stick a wedge of lime on that rim and get ready for the party.”

Now, please let me tell you how I’ve done it:

Because I had no idea about how to make a cocktail, I had a few issues:

  • How, on Earth, should I crush the ice? I mean, who crushes ice? Because I never did, until now. So, I took a knife and just chopped it. By the time I was ready, the ice started to melt so I need to be honest here and say that I also threw some whole pieces in my drink. And I used a jar to blend, instead of a Margarita blender.
  • Next, on my “I have no idea about cocktails” list: what is Margarita Salt? Is this a specific type of salt? It seems it is. But what I have done is to add some pink Himalayan salt in my coffee grinder and obtain some fine salt. This is what I used to salt rim my glass.

  • And the last thing: what party? As I am a mom of toddler twins; where is the party? Oh, yes! It starts in half an hour when my precious little angels wake up from their afternoon nap. I’ll be ready, for sure!

It was a great result and a special experience! And the best feedback came from my husband, who asked for a second glass of Margarita!

Cheers!
